Darcie’s Frosted Brownies

Brownies

¾ c. Hershey’s cocoa

½ tsp. baking soda

2/3 c. vegetable oil (divide into two equal portions)

½ c. boiling water

2 c. sugar

2 eggs

11/2 c. flour

1 tsp. vanilla

¼ tsp. salt

1 c. walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grease 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.

In medium bowl, stir together cocoa and baking soda; blend in 1/3 cup vegetable oil.

Add boiling water; stir until mixture thickens.

Blend in sugar, eggs and remaining 1/3 cup vegetable oil; stirring until smooth.

Add flour, vanilla and salt; blend well.

Stir in walnuts.

Pour into prepared pan. Bake 35-45 minutes. Cool; then add frosting.

Frosting

1 c. sugar

¼ c. milk

¼ c. margarine

1 tsp. vanilla

1 cup chocolate chips (½ c. milk chocolate chips; ½ c. semi-sweet chocolate chips)

Combine sugar, milk and margarine; bring to a boil for 1 minute.

Add vanilla and chocolate chips and beat until smooth.

Spread the frosting on cooled brownies in the pan.
