I just wanted to take some time and express my deepest sympathy for the parents of Chelsea King. As a mother of two grown daughters, I can only imagine how I would feel if it were one of my beautiful girls. I was praying for their little girl and a miracle. In our hearts, they are forever our little girls. God Bless you and your family.

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”

What a great way to start off my Friday. KUSI did a live interview with me this morning at 6:43 (to be exact) to promote our Military Makeover Contest. Military families are required to relocate more often than the rest of us. I though it would be a great way to thank them for protecting and serving our country by having the chance to enter and win a living room makeover contest!
If you know a deserving military family let them know to visit my website for the contest rules or better yet enter for them and have it be a wonderful surprise.
Have a great weekend!!

1 3oz. pkg. vanilla instant pudding

1 c. milk

1 tsp. lemon juice

8-oz. Cool Whip, thawed

1 20 oz. can pineapples chunks, drained

1 15 oz. can fruit cocktail, drained

2 10 ½ oz. cans Mandarin oranges, drained

14-18 Keebler fudge striped cookies (crushed)

Beat together pudding, milk and lemon juice. Lightly fold in Cool Whip, followed by the drained fruit-pineapple, fruit cocktail and oranges.

Mix crushed cookies into the salad, saving ½ of them to sprinkle on top.

Refrigerate until ready to serve.

This a fun twist on a fruit salad. With Easter fast approaching, try it out on family and friends.

I did it! My family and I are moving into our new house so it has been a crazy week for us all. Everyone is working very hard to make the transition a smooth one. The most exciting aspect is I get to add my touch to this house to make it a our home. Furniture, accessories and choosing new fabric for the draperies is keeping me and my staff on the go. But in the end the transformation will be worth it all. I can see and feel all the energy that everyone has contributed to this move. Pictures will be posted soon. So, check back to see the results!!!!

“Always Ready – Always Faithful – Always Courageous”

Living Room Makeover Contest

Military families have the responsibility to keep the home fires burning while our brave soldiers, sailors and airmen are deployed.  Doing so requires a comfortable – and comforting – family living area.  But, doing it on a budget is a challenge – even for many professional decorators.  That’s where we can help.

The “Always Ready, Always Faithful, Always Courageous “ living room makeover contest is our way of showing our devotion to the troops by supporting you – our military families at home.  The San Diego military family with the greatest decorating need will receive a complete living room makeover by At Home with Laurie Ann and three finalists will receive a copy of her new book, “At Home with Laurie Ann.”  Go ahead – give us your most difficult decorating challenge by March 15 and we’ll turn the place you live into a home you love – on a budget military families can afford!

Rules:

Only active-duty military families living in private San Diego residences are eligible.*
Nominations will be accepted by anyone and self-nominations are encouraged.
Nominations must include photo(s) or YouTube video link of the nominee’s living room and a one-page description, explaining why the family is extraordinarily deserving or in-need.
One-page written description, photos and/or video link should be sent via email to Brigitte@laurieann.com and include contact information for the nominated family, including day and night-time phone numbers, street address and email address.
The winner must be available to create – with the At Home with Laurie Ann design team – a dream living room on a budget and have their redone living room available for open house on April 16, 2010.  The press will be invited to tour the home on that date.
Three finalist families will receive a complimentary copy of Laurie Ann’s book “At Home with Laurie Ann.”
All finalist families must agree to have their names and photographs used on the “At Home with Laurie Ann” website and in publicity materials.
Deadline to submit a nomination is midnight, March 15, 2010.
The most deserving nominee with the greatest decorating challenge will win!
